The University of Arizona Compost Cats and its partner organizations work to reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions and increase local food security and soil carbon sequestration by diverting food scraps, landscape trim, and manure from landfills thereby creating a high-quality soil amendment for local agriculture and landscaping. By partnering with local governments, businesses, nonprofits, schools, and community events, Compost Cats drives regional culture change surrounding waste and compost. Compost Cats seeks to provide its student workers with the hands-on leadership, problem solving, and teamwork skills necessary to become the next generation of environmental change-makers.
